Story

Born from an extensive background in home construction, we realized quite a few of our customers, and many other people, had a need for extra storage. This seemed like a natural addition to the business so, early in the 1970’s, to fill that need and help keep everyone busy during slower periods, we began building portable storage sheds. Based in Canada at that time, the current owners were married in 1997. After they married, the newlyweds took over the shed production leg of business from her father, and turned portable yard buildings into a full time family business. In 2007 they sold the shed business in Canada and moved to Pearisburg, Virginia where they started, and still operate, Hillside Sheds LLC. For family reasons they moved to Chariton, Iowa in 2013 and opened Spring Valley Sheds LLC. Today, with a growing network of dealers, both Hillside Sheds and Spring Valley Sheds are building the dreams and filling the needs of people in Virginia, West Virginia and Iowa.

We have a strong belief in family and family values. Most would agree, the ideal situation is when both mom and dad can be at home while providing for their family. We are proud to say that, due to our network of craftsmen, many of our sheds are built by dads who have decided to put up a shop and work from home with their families. The contentment and peace of mind this brings our builders is reflected in the quality of the products they produce.

Over the years we have expanded our offerings and today we are happy to say you can have it your way! We build standard models and custom designs in many styles, and for a wide variety of uses. We exist to fill your needs. The only limitation is your imagination.

We offer standard models or custom designs that can be built using vinyl siding, painted metal siding, or a variety of wood sidings that can be painted or stained. You also have a choice of Ltd. Lifetime Architectural Shingles or 40 year Metal Roofing both in a great selection of colors. Beside the basics, there are many other options available that make us the right choice for your building needs.
